Palm Kernel Expeller (PKE) originates from the inner palm kernel, the white part of the nut. The kernels are processed at expeller facilities, where they undergo dual pressing to extract high-quality palm oil, such as palmolein. Afterward, the kernels are cracked, milled, and the residue left from oil extraction is dried and ground into the fine brown powder known as PKE. This powder typically consists of particles sized 1-5 mm. PKE is an excellent biomass option due to its low ash content, neutral smell, and high net calorific value. PT. Mitra Asia Gemilang has successfully supplied and delivered substantial quantities of PKE to countries such as Singapore, Malaysia, Vietnam, Thailand, Myanmar, Cambodia, China, South Korea, and the Middle East (including Oman and Turkey). The primary applications of PKE are in livestock feed, with some customers also utilizing it for co-firing with coal at power stations.
Crude Palm Kernel Oil (CPKO) is extracted from the kernel of the oil palm fruit, offering distinct characteristics compared to palm oil. At PT. Mitra Asia Gemilang, CPKO is produced through mechanical extraction after the kernels are pre-dried using a partial vacuum process in palm oil mills. This high-quality oil, with free fatty acid levels typically below 2%, is light yellow in appearance. Once physically refined, it becomes a very light-colored oil ideal for both edible and industrial applications. CPKO is also semi-solid at room temperature, making it highly versatile.
Molasses is a versatile byproduct of sugar production, widely used in livestock feed, fermentation processes, and various industrial applications. At PT. Mitra Asia Gemilang, we leverage our expertise as a leading trading company and exporter from Indonesia to deliver high-quality molasses to global markets. Our commitment to excellence ensures consistent supply and superior product standards, meeting the diverse needs of our international clients.
Palm Oil Mill Effluent (POME) is an oily wastewater produced during the processing of palm oil, consisting of various suspended solids and organic matter. Often disposed of in ponds, POME can lead to groundwater and soil contamination while releasing methane gas into the atmosphere. At PT. Mitra Asia Gemilang, we recognize the environmental challenges posed by POME and are committed to sustainable practices. On average, for every ton of fresh fruit bunches (FFB) processed, approximately one ton of liquid waste is generated, containing biochemical oxygen demand (BOD) of 27 kg, chemical oxygen demand (COD) of 62 kg, suspended solids (SS) of 35 kg, and oil and grease of 6 kg.
